TiAC Fall 2008 Meeting
November 17-18
Washington Duke Inn Raleigh NC

Themes

Delivering Value

The acid test of Enterprise Architecture is that it returns value to the business.  At the meeting we will be exploring this aspect of Enterprise Architecture that often is only tangentially addressed during annual reviews.

New technology prospecting

Building strategic capabilities

Aligning target architectures with business drivers

Selecting the right projects and avoiding tarpits

Cutting your Loses: Reducing exposure to out of control projects

Technology and system retirement

Service Oriented Enterprise/Applications/Infrastructure

We will have a number of presentations from member companies that cover a range of issues.

Is there a model for defining shared business services as a base
for developing industry wide horizontal or vertical applications/processes.

Concerns about delivering secure ( or securable ) services.

Is there a mismatch between the organization of IT and the
requirements for delivering services not applications.

Virtualization

Virtualization, grid computing, adaptive enterprise.  Forty years ago a company would have one mainframe that everyone had to share.  Mini computers client-server and the web blew that concept up and now we are trying to put Humpty together again.

Whatever the name given to it, there is value in managing IT infrastructure as a shared resource.  Now if only the  application owners would agree. . .

In addition to these larger topics we will be having the traditional corporate presentations and round table discussions.

Schedule

The conference follows the usual schedule with breakfast at 8am Monday 30th.

There will be full day program on Monday with dinner in the evening for all participants.

The Tuesday program  starts again at 8am and we will finish mid afternoon to meet flight schedules.
