Current Round Table Discussion Topics

bulletApplication Architecture: With the growing importance of B-2-B and B-2-C technologies relationships with suppliers, customers, and competitors are central to the developing architecture.   The technology de jour is Web Services and we will be exploring how companies are integrating this technology into their technology.
bulletSecurity: Still a  topic of interest and moving beyond issues of access and control to protection of IP and the delivery of universal access.  Increasingly employees expect to get access to their data from anywhere  not just known locations.
bulletOutsourcing:  This is obviously becoming a larger component of the corporate IT spend, whether the services are provided offshore or not.   We want to understand any adaptations of the enterprise enterprise architecture that organizations are making to mange and integrate with vendors.
bulletMeasurement & Metrics:  This topic covers a number of related areas.  How do we measure the quality of the applications and infrastructure and change over time.  Then, how do companies track the impact of architecture on those numbers.

bulletEffective Scope: Companies are not consistent in how they define enterprise architecture.  Some have a minimal definition focused on standards and governance processes.  Other companies have interventionist architecture groups that are intimately engaged in shaping the applications and infrastructure.  Why do companies choose the form of architecture group that they do and does it make a difference?
